Do you have scholarly books you no longer need?
Are they appropriate for a university library?
Would you share this wealth with those in need?
Please, help the Ukrainian Catholic University Library Campaign!
After 70 years of Soviet control,
The Ukrainian Catholic University is already recognized as one of that nation's leaders
in the humanities. The goal of the Library Campaign is to build a collection
of 200,000 volumes appropriate for research and student use in a modern university.
The Library Campaign is a crucial effort in the development of the first Ukrainian
Catholic University.
In a country where even the best
universities have almost no funds to buy western books, the Ukrainian Catholic University
Library will be a resource for the entire nation. Since 1994, the generosity
of institutions and scholars in the west has given the library a solid basis
of 90,000 volumes in a number of fields, particularly theology, philosophy,
and European history. Now more specialized books are needed.
What fields are needed?
Donations of academic books in most areas of the humanities are welcome, including
history, art history, philosophy, and theology.
What type of books are desired?
We are seeking academic books in good condition, especially those published by university presses in the last ten years.
Books in the Slavic languages and English are most accessible. English is now the worldwide language of scholarship and required for all students
at the Ukrainian Catholic University.
