Philadelphia Hosts 3rd Annual Benefit Event
For the Ukrainian Catholic University

March 25, 2007

Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center
700 Cedar Road, Jenkintown, PA 19046

UCEF President John Kurey:

“This event was a tremendous success on every level. The committee worked very hard under Ihor Shust's leadership to rally support in the local community for UCU. The success of this year's event shows that the Philadelphia hromada wants to support UCU on a consistent annual basis. To raise over $100,000 two years in a row in Philadelphia is incredible. This is especially impressive when you consider that this year, we did not have Fr. Borys with us in Philadelphia. And of course, the support of the Metropolitan is very important for us.”

Money Raised
Reflecting commitment to and support of the UCU's numerous accomplishments, guests raised more than $100,000! Special thanks to our contributors!

Our Local Chairman Reports:

Philadelphia is a leader in America 's support of Ukrainian Catholic University!

Our fund raising luncheon on March 25, 2007 was highly successful:

•  Using top-of-the line bilingual, visual & sound technology, guest speakers Prof. Jeffrey Wills and Prof. Antoine Arjakovsky, effectively provided an overview of a highly successful year in the growth and development of the Ukrainian Catholic University. The audience also appreciated the visual presentation of the UCU Mission and its long term development plans as outlined by Prof. Wills.

•  John Kurey, President of the Ukrainian Catholic Education Foundation, provided a well organized report on the UCEF finances and mission of funding UCU operating budgets, endowments and physical plant growth.

•  226 supporters attended.

•  Contributions for UCU exceeded $100,000!

This was the second very responsive year of the Philadelphia community for this private Catholic university in Lviv. UCU is cultivating professionals and leaders for tomorrow's Ukraine; it is educating the next generation of Catholic and non-Catholic church leaders in the world, and is a unique resource for the students of theology in all religions. The campaign is not over! We invite you to join the ranks, and to continue the support of UCU 's far-flung benefactors and be recognized as the sponsor of the university which has become a venerable fortress of Christian spirituality in Eastern Europe.

Thank you for your support!
