Metropolitan Sheptytsky Museum Opens In Lviv
A museum in honor of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, head
of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the first half of
the 20th century, was opened in western Ukrainian Lviv on
19 December 2002. Metropolitan Sheptytsky was famous for his
concern for museums in Lviv. In 1905, he founded a church
museum, now called the National Museum. He also built a separate
building for Lviv artists, whose pictures were later exhibited
