Cardinal Husar To Visit Canada
Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic
Church (UGCC), will be on his third pastoral visit to Canada
from 6 to 24 February 2003. According to Fr. Ken Nowakowski,
rector of the UGCC seminary in Ottawa, who is responsible
for the organization of the trip, Cardinal Husar will visit
Winnipeg, Ottawa, Hamilton, Woodstock, Toronto and Montreal.
During his visit, Cardinal Husar is expected to deliver a
lecture in the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute in
Ottawa, participate in a retreat for the seminarians of Holy
Spirit Seminary in Ottawa, and meet with hierarchs and clergy
of the UGCC, Roman Catholic and Orthodox bishops, and heads
and officers of diplomatic bodies.
In Canada, the UGCC has one archeparchy in Winnipeg, headed
by Metropolitan Michael Bzdel, and four eparchies: in Edmonton,
Toronto, Saskatoon and Westminster. Canada is also home to
over half a million Ukrainian Greek Catholics.
