Catholic Mission Greets Foreign Maritime Employees On Easter
On 20 April 2003, a group of volunteers headed by Fr. Roman
Popravka, director of the Catholic mission, entitled "The
Maritime Apostolate," visited foreign maritime employees
in southern Ukrainian Odesa who celebrated Easter according
to the Gregorian calendar. Fr. Roman served a Byzantine-rite
Easter Liturgy in English for them.
In addition, an ecumenical prayer service was held in the
chaplain's room of the international maritime club in Odesa
with the participation of the International Maritime Baptist
Organization (BIIS), headed by Volodymyr Parfomenko, and "The
Maritime Apostolate."
On 22 April 2003, members of both organizations attended
a Latin-rite liturgy served on the ship "Amber."
