UCU Organizes Conference in Lviv on Eucharistic Communion
Lviv — The Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) and Holy Spirit Seminary in western Ukrainian Lviv are the organizers of “Eucharistic Communion: The Challenge of Tradition and Modernity for the Traditional Churches.” The conference opened on 2 January 2007 and is to end on 4 January.
In addition to numerous participants from theological centers of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine and abroad, there are Orthodox and Roman Catholic theologians from Ukraine, Poland, and Austria.
“The question posed by the sacrament of the Eucharist leads us on a direct road to the nucleus of the ecclesiastical misunderstandings which divide Christian denominations,” said Fr. Dr. Mykhaylo Dymyd, director of UCU’s Institute of Canon Law. “And this presents the urgency of our reflections. We find ourselves here at the root of what hinders the churches from common celebration of the sacrament of the Eucharist.”
